ANZCAP Pharmacy Student of the Year Award Winner Announced!
We are excited to announce the winner of the inaugural ANZCAP Pharmacy Student of the Year Award—Thaddeus Chai.
This prestigious recognition celebrates students who excel in building diverse skill sets and knowledge through ANZCAP’s innovative portfolio-building platform. The award not only honours academic excellence but also highlights the importance of lifelong learning, self-development and a commitment to patient-centred care.
This year's winner, Thaddeus Chai, is a driven and passionate 4th-year pharmacy student at Monash University in Victoria. Thaddeus’ portfolio stood out for its depth of reflection and dedication to improving healthcare. He emphasised the value of continuous learning and mentorship, drawing inspiration from renowned surgeon Atul Gawande’s idea that growth requires constant feedback and self-improvement. Thaddeus has actively sought out leadership roles, including serving as the Victorian Pharmacy Students’ Association President and contributing to AdPha summer research placements. His commitment to rural health, leadership in mentoring programs and innovative commitment to research are already making a significant impact on the profession.
Thaddeus exemplifies the essence of the award by demonstrating not only academic excellence but also a dedication to mentoring others and improving patient care through collaborative efforts. His selection highlights the value of curiosity, leadership and the desire to positively influence the future of healthcare.
The Pharmacy Student of the Year Award is open to all pharmacy students in Australia who can demonstrate diversity in their learning by completing at least six of the 11 Learning Experiences (LXs) offered through the ANZCAP platform. It is highly regarded for its focus on showcasing a student’s commitment to growth, collaboration and the pursuit of excellence in pharmacy. The award’s prestige is further enhanced by its recognition within the pharmacy community, providing recipients with a valuable credential as they transition into their careers.
This award reflects the highest recognition for pharmacy students, offering an invaluable opportunity for professional development, mentorship and exposure at Medicines Management 2024. We look forward to celebrating with Thaddeus in November as he attends the conference as part of his prize!
