Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants Day
Tech to the future: Celebrating pharmacy technicians driving safer healthcare
This Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants Day (21 October 2025), we celebrate our partners in patient care helping shape pharmacy's future.
As our profession continues to evolve, so too does the role of pharmacy technicians.
With the growing complexity of medicines and Australia's aging population, pharmacy technicians play a vital role supporting pharmacists, nurses and other health professionals to improve efficiencies for the delivery of safer patient care.
When technicians grow, so too does the healthcare profession. And our patients benefit most.
So today let's celebrate our dedicated, highly skilled and passionate technician workforce, advancing the pharmacy profession and strengthening Australia's health system.

‘The launch of our first Australasian Pharmacy Technician Standards marks another defining moment, paving the way for a stronger, more connected, and better supported workforce.
‘To the thousands of technicians who power our profession and help deliver safe care for all Australians – thank you.’

This National Pharmacy Technicians Day, we call for pharmacy technicians to be recognised for the critical role they play in the delivery of safer patient care and are supported to practice consistently, appropriately and safely.
AdPha is pleased to announce the launch of Australasia’s first Technician Competency Standards.
This document has been developed after an extensive consultative and review process and has been designed to apply to pharmacy technicians working across a wide spectrum of practice settings including community and hospital pharmacy. It enables a standardised approach to the way the pharmacy technician profession practices and allows the formation of a consistent workforce.
The framework for this document was developed with a working group of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with representation across Australia and New Zealand from community and hospital workplace sectors.
