Pharmacy leaders drawn from every state and territory, covering regional and metro areas and hospitals of all sizes, have informed 42 recommendations across six themes and our new 'black swan' chapter in this year’s window to the future of Australian pharmacy and healthcare systems.
This year's new 'black swan' chapter explores pharmacy and healthcare preparedness for ‘black swan’ events: rare, unpredictable disruptions to everyday life that have significant impact and consequences.
The 2025 Forecast explores these topics:
THEME 1: Evolving Pharmacy Practice: Workforce Development & Service Design |
THEME 2: Pharmacy Technicians transformed - Shaping the future of Pharmacy practice |
THEME 3: The future of mental health, geriatric medicine |
THEME 4: Advanced Therapeutics - Preparing pharmacy for a paradigm shift in medicine |
THEME 5: Sustainability - Balancing pharmacy, politics, and the planet |
THEME 6: Trust and Security of Information Technology in Healthcare |
Plus, the new ‘black swan’: rare, improbable-but-not-impossible events, which are challenging to accurately predict and bring profoundly disruptive consequences across broad sectors of society. How ready are we as pharmacy leaders – and how prepared are our hospitals, patients and communities – for the next one? |
As always, Pharmacy Forecast Australia will be a conversation-starter, prompting strategic conversations based on how pharmacy leaders feel about emerging trends and phenomena impacting pharmacy practice and the health of Australian patients to 2030.
