Technician Competency Standards Project

Open consultation of the draft Australasian Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacy Technicians

After an extensive development and review process, Advanced Pharmacy Australia invites pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and key stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Australasian Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacy Technicians.

Overview

Pharmacy technicians are healthcare professionals who support pharmacists in the delivery of pharmacy services. They are a professional, skilled, and essential member of the pharmacy support and multidisciplinary team who are integral to the broader Australian and New Zealand health care workforce.

AdPha has developed this framework together with a working group of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with representation across Australia and New Zealand from community and hospital workplace sectors.  The document has has been designed to apply to pharmacy technicians working across a wide spectrum of practice settings including community and hospital pharmacy. It enables a standardised approach to the way the pharmacy technician profession practices and allows the formation of a consistent workforce.
