COMING SOON: Australian Perioperative Medicines Guide
Australia’s first perioperative medicines resource is coming in early 2027.
Developed in partnership with the Council of Australian Therapeutic Advisory Groups (CATAG) and funded by a $2.1m grant through the Australian Department of Health’s Quality Use of Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Pathology (QUDTP) program – this open-access online guide will feature a searchable A-to-Z list of medicine monographs to provide practical guidance for managing patients’ existing medications around surgery, alongside education for health professionals and co-designed consumer resources.
This project is being developed in collaboration with a multidisciplinary editorial committee of perioperative clinicians, including anaesthetists, perioperative nurses, physicians and specialist pharmacists, and AdPha’s Surgery and Perioperative Medicines Leadership Committee, who are helping to shape the content.
