

This presentation will provide an overview of principles and tools to assist pharmacists in navigating ethically and professionally challenging situations whilst optimising patient outcomes. It will also address ways in which pharmacists can optimise their own wellbeing whilst engaging in challenging scenarios with patients.

Presenter:
Karlee Johnston is a Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Canberra Health Services with more than 15-years’ experience, and is an advanced practice pharmacist in critical care. She is also a Lecturer in Pharmacology at The Australian National University medical school and is currently completing a PhD in pharmacist burnout. She has published papers on burnout and the challenges facing pharmacists during COVID‑19 and was awarded the ACT Branch Achievement Award 2021 in recognition of her work on burnout in hospital pharmacists.
