The This course offers an introduction to the essential and evolving role of pharmacists in palliative care. It explores the principles and philosophy that underpin a palliative approach, highlighting how pharmacists are integral members of multidisciplinary teams delivering holistic, patient‑centred care
You will learn how to recognise individuals with palliative care needs across a wide spectrum of malignant and non-malignant diseases, ages, and care settings. With a strong clinical focus, the course examines best practice in symptom management and the safe, effective use of medicines, within the broader context of holistic care and individual patient goals.
The course also addresses the dynamic nature of palliative care, guiding you through changing medication needs as patients move through different phases of illness, including care in the last days of life. On completion, you will have greater confidence in optimising medicines management, supporting quality of life, and contributing meaningfully to compassionate end‑of‑life care.
