Jonathan Nugent, A/ Chief Pharmacist at WA Country Health Service (WACHS)
Richard Grainger, Director of Pharmacy at Slade Pharmacy in St John of God Murdoch
Karen Donn, Business Intelligence Analyst at Health Support Services (HSS)
A career change in 2002 saw me begin my hospital pharmacy journey in Brisbane working as a pharmacy assistant in the oncology dispensary of a large private hospital pharmacy. Moving to WA in 2006 I began working as a pharmacy technician at King Edward Memorial Hospital, where for the last 13 years I have been the senior pharmacy technician.
I have always been interested in how pharmacy technicians can be involved in quality improvement and enhancing service delivery and am proud of designing and implementing a digital solution to streamline the process of requesting ad-hoc imprest medications at our site. This combination of business knowledge and technical skills saw me undertake a secondment with Health Support Services to further enhance my data analytics skills and expand my understanding of data and how it can be utilised to drive efficiency and enhance outcomes in pharmacy practice.
