Every day, clinical pharmacists are asked to make judgements about evidence: reviewing inform from drug interaction checking software, discerning whether guidelines apply to the patient in front of them, providing answers to ward round questions, submitting formulary submissions, contributing to local guideline development or just developing understanding of how certain you are in your regular interventions.
Each answer depends on being able to find the right evidence, judge how trustworthy it is, and decide whether it applies to the patient in front of you.
The Critical Appraisal of Evidence for Clinical Pharmacists Seminar aims to build skills in critical appraisal and to foster a basic understanding of the salient Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) concepts and application of these to review clinical trials and apply these findings to clinical practice.
Pitched between foundation and extension level, this seminar suits pharmacists with some existing clinical pharmacist experience who want to incorporate appraisal of evidence into their everyday practice with greater confidence and efficiency. No formal training in evidence-based medicine or statistics is assumed or required to attend this seminar.
The self-paced learning package comprises approximately 6 hours of learning material and will be available from Friday 26 February 2027. The live virtual component of this seminar will take place on Saturday 10 April 2027. The self-paced learning package materials must be completed prior to attending the live virtual seminar.
