The NSW branch invite you to their Renal CE event: acute kidney injury. This CE will explore the critical issue of acute kidney injury (AKI) in hospitalised patients, highlighting its prevalence, causes, and the significant impact on patient outcomes. Dr Arunima Jain, a renal physician specialised in AKI, will review the pharmacological principles relevant to AKI, including medication risks, nephrotoxic agents, and renal considerations. A must-attend for pharmacists involved in acute care and medication safety.
The learning objectives are:
1. Define acute kidney injury and recognise its clinical significance in hospitalised patients
2. Identify common causes and risk factors for AKI
3. Evaluate the role of medications in AKI development and apply principles for safe pharmacological management in patients with or at risk of AKI
4. Interpret changes in renal function and apply appropriate dose adjustments
