Countdown to Cairns: Two months until Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference
The final keynote speaker has been announced and abstracts accepted as the Society of Hospital Pharmacists Australia (SHPA) counts down to Medicines Management 2023, the 47th SHPA National Conference (MM2023), 2-4 November in Cairns.
The inspirational Jahan Kalantar joins media personality and mental health campaigner Osher Günsberg, and leading science communicator and educator Jessica Stokes-Parish as part of the keynote speaker line-up for MM2023, which will feature an exceptional scientific program after a highly competitive abstract process.
Jahan Kalantar, a self-professed ‘Little Guy Lawyer’ from Sydney, became a social media sensation in 2018 with his TEDx talk on ‘A perfect apology in three steps.’ Jahan draws on his work in advocacy, evidence, criminal law and human rights to inspire people to overcome perfectionism and bring their best selves to their personal and professional lives.
SHPA President Tom Simpson says attendees will leave Jahan’s session with practical life skills that can be applied to numerous scenarios.
‘I am very excited to hear from Jahan. His fresh take on overcoming perfectionism to show up as your best self is sure to inspire.
‘Delegates can also look forward to gaining plenty of unique insight from Jessica [Stokes-Parish] as she brings the best of her experience in education and making science content entertaining and accessible, honed over the years.
‘These additions to our keynote speaker line-up very much reflect the stellar event this conference is shaping up to be, full of inspiring opportunities to learn and, indeed, “space to grow”.’
Mr Simpson says the call for abstracts for MM2023 was the most competitive in years.
‘It is exciting to see the breadth and quality of abstracts that will feature across our program, as well as hot topics including AI and the future of digital health, sustainability and self-care.
‘We will also be making momentous announcements around practitioner recognition, international partnerships, and our Transformation 2024 agenda. And, of course, let’s not forget the awards, networking and celebrations that make Medicines Management a glittering highlight of the Australian pharmacy calendar.’
