AdPha marks Australia Day 2025

Celebrating pharmacists and technicians around the country as Australia reflects and pays respect on Australia Day 2025

Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) has marked Australia Day 2025 by celebrating pharmacists and technicians across the country for their tireless dedication to advancing patient care, extending pharmacy expertise from hospitals to everywhere medicines are needed.

The public holiday comes the day after AdPha Member Anna Barwick FANZCAP (Lead&Mgmt, ObsGynae) was awarded the Medal of Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2025 Australia Day Honours.

AdPha President Tom Simpson FANZCAP (Lead&Mgmt) says the honours are a timely moment to celebrate the broader profession, amid the respect and reflection that defines Australia’s national day.

‘We send our congratulations to long-time AdPha member and rural and remote health advocate Anna Barwick OAM for her deserving accolade, and to the hundreds of Australians whose contributions to and impacts on society have been recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours list.

‘We also congratulate Dr Craig Rayner AM, recognised for his longstanding service to pharmacology, and pharmacists Sobia and Irfan Hashmi, recognised as South Australia’s local heroes this year.

‘Australia Day is marked in many ways, and AdPha celebrates all pharmacists and technicians for their integral roles in health care teams and in the fabric of our communities.’
