For International Women's Day 2024 and beyond, let's Inspire Inclusion.
When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.
And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.
The aim of the IWD 2024 #InspireInclusion campaign is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.
Dr Kate O'Hara, SHPA Vice-President, will provide an introduction to the member consultation on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy at the commencement of the webinar.
This webinar will showcase projects conducted by our expert members who #InspireInclusion in their respective workplaces at both an individual and organisational level.
Ione Wallace & Claire Hatty - Baby Come Back- Supporting Pharmacy Staff Pre- and Post-Parental Leave
This project outlines efforts to enhance the return-to-work experience for pharmacy staff, primarily women, following parental leave. The implementation of a Working Parents Support Group (WPSG) aimed to address challenges such as skill reintegration and work-life balance. Pre-implementation surveys revealed a desire for increased support, leading to the formation of WPSG and schedule expansions. Post-implementation evaluations demonstrated increased staff comfort and support levels. WPSG facilitated open discussions on issues like Imposter Syndrome and burnout. Overall, it has improved the return-to-work experience, suggesting potential applicability in other hospital settings, with 14 staff benefitting from its support.
Sharon Goldsworthy - Improve Staff Satisfaction – Development, Implementation and Monitoring of a Workplace Flexibility Procedure
This project highlights the initiative to enhance staff satisfaction through the development, implementation, and monitoring of a workplace flexibility procedure. Following a 2017 survey indicating a demand for increased flexibility, a collaborative effort led to the creation of a comprehensive procedure. A subsequent survey in 2022 revealed a notable increase in overall satisfaction, accompanied by a rise in the proportion of part-time staff. While positive leadership support was evident, discrepancies between staff perceptions and established evidence were observed, particularly regarding part-time leadership roles. Further exploration of these perceptions is warranted, with ongoing utilization of the developed survey tool for continuous staff satisfaction monitoring.
Don't miss this opportunity to come together to #InspireInclusion, ensuring women have the tools to thrive, lead, and make an impact in pharmacy practice.
