ANZCAP live online as Foundation Program recognition opens in Australia

The online platform of the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) is now live, open for all pharmacists across Australia to be recognised for their prior professional experience via the ANZCAP Foundation Program.

The milestone marks the second in a series of ANZCAP releases, which will include the portfolio-building Independent Program and access for pharmacists across New Zealand from November 2023, and dedicated pathways for pharmacy technicians arriving in 2024.

SHPA President Tom Simpson says the ANZCAP Foundation Program ensures all Australian pharmacists have the opportunity to be recognised for what they contribute.

‘Open until April 2024, the Foundation Program steps out eligibility and criteria to be recognised for your career progress, conferring Resident, Registrar or Consultant certification and post-nominals for immediate personal and professional use.’

‘Invited pharmacists from across the country and all practice settings have already received ANZCAP recognition during the pre-launch phase and we’re thrilled to open Foundation Membership to all practitioners.'

Among ANZCAP’s first credentialled pharmacists is pharmacy and health care leader Professor Lisa Nissen who believes the platform addresses an important gap in the industry.

‘Professional recognition in pharmacy is really important, now more than ever. We need to be able to show what skills and competencies pharmacy can bring to the table within the professional team and be able to speak the same language other professions already use.’

First-year ANZCAP recognition through the Foundation Program is currently discounted by 25%, a saving of up to $150.

All Australian pharmacists with Ahpra General Registration are eligible to access the ANZCAP platform, either via SHPA Membership (free) or through Direct ANZCAP Membership (annual fee).
