Mastering (Heart) Failure

Brought to you by the SHPA Cardiology Speciality Practice Group and leading Australian clinicians the Mastering (Heart) Failure program will be delivered over 3 interactive sessions providing the ideal opportunity for delegates to immerse themselves in specific topics.

Each weekly session will have a focus theme and have a mix of pre-recorded sessions, self-guided case studies as well as a live virtual interactive session.

Session 2 Tuesday 15 February 2022: Mastering Diuresis

Session 3 Tuesday 22 February 2022: Showcasing our Masters

Who should attend: Pharmacists with a significant level of specialist skill and knowledge in the treatment of heart failure. This is ideal for those currently working within cardiology practice or research settings as well as senior pharmacists working  in other settings who are managing patients with heart failure.

Session 1 Tuesday 8 February 2022: Mastering Cardiac Imaging - 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM AEDT

The self-paced package (1.5 hours) includes:

  • Concise presentation series on different cardiac imaging modalities used in assessing patients presenting with chest pain and acute heart failure
  • Self-guided case study to prepare for the live virtual interactive case studies

Tuesday evening live virtual interactive seminar (1.5 hours) includes:

  • Case series utilising cardiac imaging to guide pharmacological therapy in acute heart failure


Session 2 Tuesday 15 February 2022: Mastering Diuresis - 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM AEDT

The self-paced package (1.5 hours) includes:

  • Evidence based overview of available diuretic therapies
  • Evidence based overview of Inotropes in acute heart failure
  • Evidence based overview of adjunct therapies in optimising diuresis

Tuesday evening live virtual interactive seminar (1.5 hours)  includes:

  •  Case series applying evidence-based diuresis in different heart failure conditions
  •  Case series applying evidence-based inotropes in different heart failure conditions
     

Session 3 Tuesday 22 February 2022: Showcasing our Masters - 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM AEDT

Tuesday evening live virtual interactive seminar (2 hours) includes:

  • Discussion around research and quality indicators utilised in heart failure research
  • Opportunity for participants to showcase their own work in heart failure
  • Opportunity to present questions for future research utilising the participants combined knowledge of heart failure management and research

The live virtual component of this seminar will take place on Tuesay 8, 15 & 22 of February 2021.  The self-paced learning package materials must be completed prior to attending each live virtual seminar session.

National Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacists in Australia, 2016

Accreditation:

 This activity has been accredited for 4 hours of Group-1 CPD and 4 hours of Group-2 CPD (for a total of 12 CPD credits), suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan. The accreditation number is S2022/01.

Cancellation policy

  • Membership rate is only applicable if you are a member at the time of the seminar. Should your membership lapse, or if you resign you will be invoiced for the difference in registration.
  • Cancellations must be made in writing.
  • Cancellations received before 6 weeks prior to the event will receive a full refund. Non-members will be charged a $50 handling fee.
  • Cancellations received between 6 weeks and 1 week prior to the event will receive a 50% refund of the registration fee.
  • Cancellations received less than a week prior to the event will NOT be refunded.
  • SHPA reserve the right to cancel a seminar or make changes to the program
  • If SHPA cancels or defers the event you will receive 100% of the registration fee but SHPA bears no responsibility for any costs incurred  (such as flights, accommodation, travel or expenses) or loss of income.
  • It is recommended that participants obtain adequate insurance cover for travel and accommodation.
  • Transfer of registration – as an alternative to cancellation your registration may be transferred to another member of your organisation or another event (if the chosen seminar is a higher cost you will be subject to further charges). A request MUST be made in writing to the Federal Secretariat prior to the event.
  • If you are unable to attend SHPA policy is that handouts can not be made available as ‘stand alone’ materials

Venue/Accessbility requirements

  • For special accessibility requirements for in-person events please complete the relevant section when registering online and this information will be forwarded to third parties.
  • SHPA are in no way responsible for any connectivity issues as a result of the participants internet connection or hardware issues or other external factors impacting the internet, that are out of SHPA’s control.

Catering/Dietary requirements

  • Please complete the necessary section when registering online. SHPA will notify third parties such as caterers/suppliers of any dietary requirements.
  • Whilst every care is taken to notify venues of dietary requirements, SHPA cannot guarantee completely allergy free meals, nor be held responsible for any adverse reaction. Any registrant who has notified SHPA of a dietary requirement should make themselves known to the seminar coordinator and/or venue staff upon their arrival.
  • Some dietary requirements such as Kosher meals may incur an additional cost which is the responsilbility of the delegate. SHPA will notify you in advance.

Recording/Filming

  • Recording and/or filming is not permitted by registrants. Please note this event may be recorded for the SHPA website and/or photos may be taken for use in SHPA resources and publications.
  • Registrants are not permitted to record or film any part of SHPA events in any format including audio recording or video recording or through use of mobile devices for filming

Registration

  • Numbers are capped so book early to avoid disappointment. Please note the only way to guarantee a space is to register online. Please ensure you register prior to booking your flights and accommodation.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email then you are not registered for the event and will not be able to be accommodated on the day of the event. If you are following up on registration please ensure you contact the Federal Secretariat at least a week prior to the event.
