Registrations open for 2020 SHPA Virtual Congress
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has opened registrations for the 2020 SHPA Virtual Congress to be held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2020, featuring a two-day program of invited speakers, contributed papers and posters, awards and reflections for Australia’s leading community of pharmacists and technicians.
SHPA President Peter Fowler says the move to a streamlined event is the right option for the profession, in an exceptional year.
‘Gathering the profession in a year like no other, the 2020 SHPA Virtual Congress will feature a dynamic two-day program showcasing the latest in hospital pharmacy practice, clinical pearls from across the practice spectrum and focused sessions reflecting on 2020 and the hot topics of COVID-19 and Aged Care.
‘Respecting the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, particularly for members living and working in Victoria, and following consultation with elected leaders from the membership, the SHPA Board of Directors has determined Medicines Management will not proceed this year.’
SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says the new-format event will provide a forum for learning and celebration.
‘Be inspired by orations from the recipients of the prestigious SHPA Awards, including the 2020 Fred J Boyd Award, and share in moments of celebration for the popular-vote winners of the 2020 Members’ Awards, new SHPA Fellow inductees and 2020 SHPA Resident of the Year.’
Registration includes access to all live Congress sessions, along with online access to all contributed papers and posters, and the 2020 SHPA Virtual Congress Book of Abstracts in a fully integrated digital flipbook.
‘Medicines Management has a very special status, earned by members, which will be preserved until the profession can gather safely again,’ says Ms Michaels.
‘We look forward to hosting delegates from around the country next year at Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference, when we gather for Medicines Management 2021, the 46th SHPA National Conference in Adelaide, 25–27 November 2021.’
