All-virtual MM2020 move this November
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has announced its blockbuster annual conference will be all-virtual in 2020, under the new theme ‘Crossover’.
Medicines Management 2020, the 46th SHPA National Conference (MM2020) will be held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, with the new virtual format ensuring the safety of event delegates, members and staff while allowing innovation, celebration and decades of tradition to continue.
Ahead of the opening of registrations, pharmacists and technicians from every corner of Australia can register their interest, signing up for updates on the conference program and scientific abstracts in the coming weeks.
SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says the hallmarks of SHPA’s flagship conference will feature in November.
‘Across our membership and the hospital pharmacy community, incredible work and achievement continues every day, and we are designing a program that will still allow us to gather, recognise and celebrate as a profession, as we do every year.
‘Following on from our first successful all-virtual events, MM2020 will feature a rigorous scientific program, interactive supporter opportunities, our array of prestigious awards as well as a number of exciting – and surprising – ways to network and socialise.’
Ms Michaels says the new theme is about creating connections and strengthening bonds.
‘”Crossover” describes the positive potential in the shift from face-to-face to online interactions, as well as the importance of connecting in all areas of pharmacy practice: between pharmacy practitioners; between pharmacists, technicians and other health professionals; across cities and states; and with the patients and families in our care.
‘SHPA will always prioritise the safety of event delegates, members and staff and we look forward to again hosting delegates from around the country at Australia’s largest scientific pharmacy conference as we gather as a community in spirit, if not in person.
‘Importantly, we have rescheduled our previous Adelaide plans and a full-scale, blockbuster Medicines Management 2021, the 47th SHPA National Conference, will be held under the “Future-Proof” theme from 25-27 November 2021 in South Australia.’
